A serviced self-catering tented camp beside Masuma Dam, twenty kilometres south of Sinamatella, with the dam's excellent hide next door. You cook, the camp looks after the rest, at a fraction of what any lodge inside the park charges. Road access only, so bring a capable high-clearance vehicle and all your own supplies; park fees are not included in the rate.

What the park charges on top
The rate above buys you a bed. Hwange National Park charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside. Here is what that adds up to.

Questions about Kapula Private Camp
Can you self-drive to Kapula Private Camp?
Yes, it is road access only. From November to March you need a 4x4 with high clearance, as wet roads are slippery and unsuitable for sedans; the rest of the year a vehicle with reasonable clearance will do. Allow an hour from Sinamatella or about three and a half hours from Main Camp.
What is included at Kapula Private Camp?
Kapula provides beds and linen, hot showers, a well-equipped kitchen, firewood and helpful staff, but you bring all your own food and drinks. There is no laundry service, the water is safe to drink, and the solar power does not run to plug points in the tents. Park fees are extra.
Is Kapula Private Camp good for families?
It can suit a family or group cooking for itself, since it is priced per two-tent unit for up to eight people. Kapula is not fenced, and its own FAQ says children must always be with an adult, especially around the boma at night when hyenas may be about.
When is Kapula Private Camp open?
Kapula effectively operates from April to November. The camp says game viewing is best in the dry winter months from June to October, while November to May suits bird watchers, though rainy-season roads need a 4x4 with high clearance.
