The Track Shack

Campsite · Alongside the railway near the park entrance · Bayete Collection

A drawing stands in because nobody has sent us a photograph of The Track Shack yet. We only publish images we have permission for. Send us five and this page changes the same week.

Budget Outside the gate Owner/family-run

The newest and cheapest option at the gate: bring a tent and take a private site with its own bathroom, which almost no campsite in the region offers. Straightforward, well run and beside the old railway line.

Why you'd pick it

  • Private campsites with their own en-suite ablution, rare at this price
  • Own braai, fire pit and water tap per site
  • Communal pool and deck

What's here

  • Swimming pool
  • Family rooms
  • Campsite
  • En-suite bathrooms
  • Self-catering

Arranged from the lodge:

  • Birding

What the park charges on top

The rate above buys you a bed. Hwange National Park charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside, and almost no booking site shows you that.

Park entryThe rate if you drive in from outside.
$24per person, per day
Vehicle$10 a day on a day visit, $3 if you are staying inside.
$10per vehicle, per day

Three nights means three days inside, so two adults sharing one vehicle pay $174 in park fees before anyone pays for a bed.

Rates

Enquire. Bring your own tent. Minimum two nights. Private sites with their own ablution, or cheaper shared ones.

What the rate covers is not confirmed. We have not been able to check whether meals, drinks and activities are included here, so treat this figure as the bed alone until it is.

Indicative 2026 rates from operators' own rate cards, gathered July 2026. Always confirm with the lodge. One thing to watch when comparing: some camps include ZimParks fees in their rate and some do not, which shifts the real gap by $12 to $36 per person per night.
