Miombo Safari Camp
Elevated tents, treehouses and rondavels · Dete Annex, on the tar road about 20 km from the gate · Zimbabwean independent (Simon Mbomba)
Elevated tents, treehouses and rondavels in the Dete Annex, on the tar road about twenty kilometres from the gate. The camp is Zimbabwean-owned and unfenced, with two waterholes and a resident lion pride in front of it. Half-board rates from $100 make it one of the few places to stay somewhere genuinely good without paying inclusive-lodge prices. The trade-off is that you still have to drive yourself into the park for game drives.

What the park charges on top
The rate above buys you a bed. Hwange National Park charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside. Here is what that adds up to.
- Park entryThe rate if you drive in from outside.
- $24per person, per day
- Vehicle$10 a day on a day visit, $3 if you are staying inside.
- $10per vehicle, per day
Three nights means three days inside, so two adults sharing one vehicle pay $174 in park fees before anyone pays for a bed.

Questions about Miombo Safari Camp
What does Miombo Safari Camp cost?
Fully inclusive rates are $292 for the rustic chalets and $375 to $408 for the tented suites. Half-board rates are also offered and are what make Miombo cheaper than most lodges, though on half board you drive yourself into the park for game drives. Confirm current half-board prices directly.
Is Miombo Safari Camp good for families?
Miombo has family units alongside its rustic chalets, tented suites, treehouses and camping, but we found no published child policy, so ask when you enquire. Note that the camp is unfenced, with two waterholes and a resident lion pride in front of it.
Can you self-drive to Miombo Safari Camp?
Yes. Miombo is in the Dete Annex on the tar road, about 20 km from the park gate, and Hwange National Park airport is ten minutes away by road. On half board you drive yourself into the park for game drives, so a car of your own is useful.
